The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday canceled its recognition of Sir Celestine Omehia as a former governor of the state.
The de-recognition which has been see by many as a fall-out of the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party follows a resolution of the House during Thursday’s plenary supported by all 21 lawmakers.
Also, the House gave Omehia a week to refund the state N96.5 million which he received as benefits as a former governor.
Omehia shifted support to PDP’s presidential candidate, a move which has been seen as an act of betrayal by Gov Nyesom Wike who came second during the party’s presidential primary.
