The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has made a surprise appearance at the National Assembly.
Saraki walked into the foyer of the ‘White House’ complex of the National Assembly around 3.42 pm, to a loud ovation from his colleagues in the Senate and members of the House of Representatives.
Senators loyal to Saraki and members of the House, mainly from the Peoples Democratic Party, had kept vigil at the foyer, following the invasion of the National Assembly by DSS operatives and the speculation that senators loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari had perfected plans to impeach the Senate President and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
They lawmakers broke into joyful celebration when the Senate President walked in.
Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Chukwuka Onyema was seen hugging and welcoming Saraki.
There had been speculations that the Senate President snuck into the National Assembly in the early hours of today.
But his late afternoon appearance would be the first time he was seen in public on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Senate President has announced that he will address a World Press Conference at the National Assembly on Wednesday.
Sources told Frontline News Online, that Saraki is most likely to be speaking on the DSS invasion of the National Assembly, talk on plans to impeach him and the actions to be taken by the National Assembly on Buhari’s request for the approval of the supplementary budget and the virement request.
