Senate sets March 16 deadline for passage of 2019 budget

The Senate on Tuesday assured Nigerians of its resolve to pass the
2019 Appropriation bill on Tuesday, 16th April, 2019.

Senate President Bukola Saraki who gave the assurance on resumption
for plenary on Tuesday, urged sub-committees of the Appropriation
Committee to submit their reports by Friday, 5th April, 2019.
He also mandated the Appropriation panel to submit its report from
April 9 to 11, 2019.
Saraki subsequently adjourned plenary to April 9 to enable relevant
committees to complete budget defence sessions with ministries,
departments and agencies.

Also at plenary, Saraki read various communications from President
Muhammadu Buhari in which he expressed his resolve to decline assent
to eight bills including the controversial National Housing Fund Bill
passed by the Senate and House of Representatives.
