
Nigeria’s Super Falcons stunned an over confident Morroco to end a tough final with a 3-2 scoreline in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.
It is now a 10th WAFCON title for the Super Falcons after last winning it in 2018.
Morocco shocked the Super Falcons with an early lead. Morocco’s star player, Ghizlane Chebbak scored by the 12th minute. This was followed by Sanaâ Mssoudy scoring by the 24th minute.
The Super Falcons rose from the ashes in the second-half, scoring three goals without a reply from the host.
Esther Okoronkwo kept her calm to convert a penalty in the 64th minute, before Folashade Florence Ijamilusi levelled the scoreline with a goal in the 71st minute. Jennifer Echegini completed the comeback with a late winner in the 88th minute, sealing the Super Falcons’ win.

Nigeria’s dominance in the final match saw Rasheedat Ajibade take home the Player of the Tournament award, while Chiamaka Nnadozie, Nigeria’s safe hands, was presented withthe Gold Glove.
