The wife of the Senate minority leader, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio recently has donated food stuffs, relief materials, wrappers and cash to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom state which some of them are victims of the current crisis in the area.
Unoama, who described the current killings and destruction of properties in the area as barbaric. She however reassured the IDPs of a peaceful environment, noting that the state government is working hard to maintain peace and sanity in the domain.
She said, ” the current attack in Ukanafun is barbaric but I want to tell you that the state government is working hard in bringing peace in the area.
She applauded the security operatives who have walked tirelessly to ensure that the culprits has been arrested, urging that all hands should be on desk to ensure peace and normalcy.
She further urged the (IDPs) to be prayerful, adding that more are coming to better their well being.
She lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel’s led- administration for touching lives in the state even as she commended his infrastructural strides.
The Permanent- Secretary, ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Aniekpeno Mkpanang, expressed gratitude over the generosity exhibited by Mrs. Akpabio adding that her donation will go a long way in ameliorating the suffering of the IDPs.
She assured the (IDPs) that the state government is committed ti ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
However, Mrs. Peace Etuk spoke on behalf of the IDPs thanked Mrs. Akpabio describing her as a caring mother.
She called on the government to speedily address the insecurity challenges in the area and map out plans to curtail future occurrences.
Mrs. Etuk urged that the state government, specifically relevant agencies to come to their aid by repeating the kind gesture exhibited by the wife of the Senate Minority Leader.
