Super Falcons lift WAFCON Cup for a record 10th time

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has congratulated the Super Falcons for lifting the WAFCON cup for the 10th time.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Minister described the Super Falcons’ victory at the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as “historic,” hailing it as a clear proof of Nigerian women’s strength and resilience.

Suleiman-Ibrahim formed part of the presidential delegation to Saturday’s WAFCON final. The delegation also comprised the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite and the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, among others.

The minister also hailed the team’s resilience, teamwork, and composure under pressure, describing their performance as “a source of national pride and a beacon of hope for girls across the country.”

She extended her congratulations to President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, “for their unprecedented support to the team and the entire Nigerian sports ecosystem under the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

“As Minister of Women Affairs, I am immensely proud. Tonight, every Nigerian girl sees a reflection of her dreams in your victory. You have not only lifted a trophy — you have lifted hearts,” the statement added.
