On the International Women’s Day, a Nigerian woman, Karen Bello made history by becoming the first female Nigerian to earn the prestigious PMI Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) global certification.
With above target score in all the five domains, Karen, a Programme Manager at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has advanced her competency in the coordinated management of one or more portfolios to achieve strategic objectives through aligning projects, programs and operations with strategic objectives, investing resources in the right work to deliver the expected value.
Karen is also the 11th resident Nigerian and among the less than 1000 persons globally to earn certification. Her achievement has no doubt put the Nigerian woman on the global map of advanced project management competence and capabilities. She ascribed her success to hardwork and support from her professional community said “This journey was made possible with the invaluable experience from UK-FCDO in Nigeria, the support of colleagues, friends and family. The intense application, training and mentorship of Femi Adegbulugbe (PPMC Inc. Canada) and Taopheek Babayeju (iCentra, Nigeria) were instrumental to this process and second to none. I am delighted at this achievement and cheer on all women, girls (and boys) aspiring to greater heights; all goals are attainable with God, determination and hard work”
