Police take over Benue House of Assemby

 

The Benue State House of Assembly this morning, has been turmed to a battle ground for supporters  from both camps of the political  divide in the state.

It was gathered that a secret meeting was held Sunday night  by some lawmakers who are loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Federal Government, to commence impeachment against Gov. Samuel Ortom.

But sources say youths on learning of moves to remove Ortom, trooped to the state House of Assembly complex as early as 5am to block it’s entrance.

Eyewitness say the Police allegedly  sent from Abuja reacted to the action of the youths and vigilante groups at the gate of the Assembly, by trying to disperse forcefully.

According to an eyewitness, many who came to watch events unfold were forced to leave as the Police threw out tears gas canisters to disperse the crowd.
