Super Falcons File Picture

Super Falcons players had  expressed determination to avoid defeat in the hands of their French counterparts this evening in Le Mans. But the Nigerian senior female team suffered a humiliating, 8-0 defeat.

Valerie Guavin scored a hatrick, while Marie Charlotte-Leger scored a brace to ensure  a disappointing outcome for the Falcons.

The French ladies 33 shots on goal and Super Falcons 3 shots on goal as well as other key statistics show how much the host team dominated proceedings.

Nigeria paraded a mix of veterans and upcoming stars, while France, who finished in fourth place at the FIFA World Cup finals in Germany seven years ago, also had a number of new prospects on display. The Falcons were  in Le Mans without top star Asisat Oshoala, but other foreign-based professionals like Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega were available for the encounter.
