
Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman has been crowned the African Player of the Year at the prestigious 2024 Confederation of African Football Awards.
Lookman was crowned king of African football at the star-studded ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday. CAF President, Patrice Motsepe and FIFA President, Giovanni Vincenzo Infantino presented the award to a visibly elated Lookman.
The player who attended the ceremony decked in company of his father and other family members, dressed in a full green agbada started his acceptance speech in Yoruba. He went on to thank everyone who has supported his career.
He recalled his public struggle in his career four years ago, counselling young players never to stop fighting and believing in themselves.
Earlier, Zambia’s Barbara Banda was crowned the African Female Player of the Year. Her award was also presented to her by the duo of the Motsepe and Ifantino.
