Nigerians are in tougher times as the price of a litre of fuel jumped to about N617.
A visit to an NNPC filling station in the Central area of Abuja by a Daily Trust reporter confirmed that the fuel price has now been adjusted from N539 to N617 per litre. Some other popular gas stations in Abuja sold PMS at N540 following the removal of fuel subsidy by the Tinubu Administration.
The Federal Government had announced that it saved N400 billion per month since the cancellation of the fuel subsidy policy.
Government’s move to ameliorate the hardship among low income earners following the increase in fuel price with an eight thousand Naira cash transfer to poor households has been roundly criticized.
President Bola Tinubu has said that the federal government will transfer the sum of N8,000 per month to 12 million low-income household.
It was gathered that these families, across the 36 states of the federation, will get the money for a period of six months.
