FG Pays ASUU Half Salaries For October

The Federal Government has dealt members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) a heavy blow by only paying lecturers for 18 working days in the month of October.

Aggrieved and embarrassed members of the union told Punch that the actions of government has left them regretting suspending their strike.

Recall that ASUU called of its eight-month strike on October 14 to the relief of students and their guardians.

“We were only paid for the days after the strike. I received a half salary. Other members are angry right now, they are blaming the NEC for calling off the strike”, the paper quoted an ASUU member as saying.

The national president of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, also confirmed the development to the newspaper saying, “Yes, it is true and we are honestly shocked”.
