Group Lauds PDP e-Registration As Innovative Initiative

The Saraki Support Group has commended the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for introducing the electronic registration initiative to register new members and validate old members of the Party, saying it is a trendsetter that will deepen democracy in Nigeria and also, provide a veritable data bank that will assist the party in strategic planning for future electioneering engagements.

According to a Statement released by the National Spokesperson of the Saraki Support Group, Mr. Ed-Malik Abdul, ‘the political environment today is completely unique as the world is now data driven while the populace is evolving into the digital age as well and this is an opportunity to start using data to engage as well as plan the future of politicking” he said.
The Statement said, that the former Senate President and two tenure Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki identifies with this reality and considers this initiative as a political and digital pace-setter that will give the party’s political planners a practical platform to network and secure value voters for the party.
Mr. Abdul further said that Dr. Saraki as Senate President was a catalyst that actively canvassed the enthronement of technological driven tools to expand our political space which he exemplified by the support that he gave to the introduction of card readers by INEC in 2015, an innovation which has significantly impacted on the voting process by introducing biometric confirmation of potential voters.
The Saraki Support Group expressed optimism that the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola is well equipped to manage Nigeria’s quest to join the league of nations who use data as the basis of planning national development. “Saraki will be a digital President, that’s why we in the support group are informing Nigerians ahead, of the great potentials and access to the opportunities in global technology that his presidency will provide” the statement added.
The statement gave special credit to the Chairman of the PDP e-Registration Committee, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state for bringing his robust experience in statistical enumeration and planning to deliver on the onerous mandate, which hopefully will hasten the process of membership registration and open new ways to collect information that will help in identifying the strength and weaknesses of the active voters.
