Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has said the National Assembly is most likely to pass the 2018 Appropriation Bill on April 24, 2018.
Speaking during yesterday’s plenary, Dogara further disclosed that a joint committee of both chambers has proposed to lay the report of the budget on April 19, 2018 for consequent passage on April 24, 2018.
The notice from the committee was handed to him by Deputy Speaker, Sulaimon Yussuff.
“We are proposing that we are laying the budget finally on the 19th of April 2018, hopefully we will be passing the budget on 24 April, 2018. This is a harmonised calendar with the Senate”, Dogara said .
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari laid the budget on November 7, 2017 before a joint session of the National Assembly.
There has also been a back and forth between the executive and the National Assembly on who is delaying the passage of the 2018 budget.
Regardless, President Buhari recently directed heads of Ministries, States and Departments to present thier proposals to the National Assembly.
