Former minister of Aviation, Osita Chiodka took to Facebook to remember his mentor the Late Ojo Maduekwe.
Maduekwe, a former minister of Foreign Affairs is believed to have played a major role in Chidoka’s rise in public service.
He died in June 2016 and Chidoka who recently ran for governorship in Anambra State said he went to visit his family.

In honour of Ojo’s memory my wife and I spent the afternoon with Aunty UC, (Mrs Ucha Maduekwe) and Ukiwe Maduekwe Ojo’s wife and son. We sat in the small parlor where Ojo’s empty chair and table still stands as he left it with documents which only him understands the arrangement. It was a quiet afternoon.
The mood was light and hopeful. Many who would have been here today with Ojo, I am sure, are with us in spirit.
We drank Cider, talked about Nigeria, football and of course Ojo.
Next year the first of the Mekaria Lecture series will start. May 6th is a date we will continue to celebrate in memory of the man of ideas. I will continue to cherish the times we shared as memories of his mentoring lingers.
He taught me to keep fit, drink red wine, drink brewed coffee Black no sugar no milk, read voraciously and laugh at our collective foibles.
If he was alive I would have given him a gift today. The gift would have been “We We’re Eight Years in Power” by Ta Nehisi Coates. A very interesting book about race, consensus Politics and inequality. The book’s application to Nigeria is quite apt.
